"Bush supporters outnumber Crawford critics"

I don't care about the numbers, but according to other reports that I've read, Douglas seems to be exagerating. Are there actual figures anywhere?

CRAWFORD - President Bush's supporters poured into Crawford by the thousands Saturday, for the first time outnumbering war protesters led by Cindy Sheehan, who began a vigil here three weeks ago, demanding a personal meeting with the vacationing president to talk about her son's death in Iraq.

1. i was there....

i walked right through the heart of the anti-peace/pro-bush protest and there were a couple hundred at most. it was your basic bush-supporter get-together...white trash driving massive trucks or standing around holding poorly written signs.

Every picture I saw, and on TV when the cameras scanned their "crowd" it looked like about 50 to a 100 people. I am really tired of hearing about "thousands" of bu$h supporters when my eyes tell me different. If there were that many there,where were they hiding? Can anyone from DU that was there tell us what they think the actual number was? Also,why isn't anyone saying anything about the RNC PR firm hired hands? That little factoid sure disappeared in a hurry. :banghead:

5. I saw a report on tv...

showing the bush supporters on one side and Cindy supporters on the other.at least that is how it was presented...and the reported talked about the shouting back and forth at each other..and the security that was needed, etc...anyway..they scan to the scene...and the bush side..was indeed shouting across the road...lined 2 or three deep for about 50 ft...shouting insults, waving their signs..looking like trashy, loud and angry people...the regular bush type of supporter..spewing their loud nastiness...and on the other side...no one was shouting back...just going about business..not lined up...ha! But still...the reporter went on about the clashing of sides.

but it doesn't matter because such a rapport is too low, and the figures will be exagerated. I think it was a tactical mistake not to organize a mass support for Cindy the day the bushies were coming.

I've been discussing that yesterday ad got a lot of shit for it. But I still think I am right. Only a MASSIVE, enduring nation wide protest against the current administration can change things. It must be organized. The rest is wishful thinking.

6. Camp Casey crowd was much bigger

There was for sure more there for camp casey I and II. It may have seemed like a small crowd near the peace house but they had about 8 shuttles running back and forth! The media hounds just report what they want. Fox also had some guy there but I guess he didnt tell them the truth either?

12. What I saw

When I arrived at the Crawford Peace House around 11AM Saturday, there were maybe 100-200 people there. Driving through town I saw about the same number of anti-peace demonstrators. There were at least 2000 pro-peace demonstrators at Camp Casey II but no anti-peace. According to a friend who visited Camp Casey I there were 200-300 protesters from each side of the debate there. I'm guessing that most of the people I saw at the Peace House were trying to make it out to the big rally at Camp Casey II. I saw various reports in the media that there were 1500 or 3000-4000 anti-peace demonstrators but they clearly weren't anywhere I could find them.

13. I must have missed them....

I was down there on Saturday, and if there were thousands of Bush supporters, I must have become blind.

When we first arrived @ about 1:30, I noticed that there were more cars parked on the side of the road near the Peace House, and along the main streets of Crawford.

But I didn't notice 3-4,000 people over at Fort Qualls (there isn't even room for 300 hundred on their side of the street).

At the first campsite, the pro-bush supporters looked to be about 50-75. There were a few more people (maybe 30) down the street where the Bikers for Bush had originally set up their camp.

Of course, watching our local DFW coverage last night, the only Sheehan mention was that Al Sharpton has come down (didn't even mention Martin Sheen), yet no one said anything about thousands of Bush supporters showing up to "even up the odds" over the weekend.

And given their bias, I'd figured they would jump on the chance to announce this influx of ignorance.

14. What's the scoop on the pro-war gathering at the stadium?

I went straight through Crawford to Camp Casey II and didn't see anything else. There was supposed to be a blood-thirsty crowd at the stadium in Crawford. All I'm aware of was Camp Qualls in downtown Crawford (no more that a hundred) and a dinky party tent. Was that tent at the stadium? I know of no pictures or places where they could have put 3K to 4K people. More MSM bullshit.

15. I had to drive repeatedly through Crawford

Saturday & Sunday. It is absolute BULLSHIT that there were more pro war folks than peace folks. The major media stayed in Crawford where the pro war folks stayed ASAIK (& remember I was in a van going back & forth & didn't stop at Camp 2 except for about 2 hrs w/the ditties, westhoustondem (& daughter, who btw rocks!), velma, nopasaran & others, so if they were at camp 2 I might have missed them.) Camp 2 was capacity, SRO crowd under the big tent (which I'm told holds 2000 & there were waaaaay more than that otu there at Camp 2. Because they closed the road between the Camps (except after the pro war folks clocked out---no overtime so they left :rofl: ), I wasn't able to get to Camp 1 until the evening. Yes there were more pro war folks than last week, but our side definitely outnumbered them.

We even had more porta potties than they did, so that should give you a clue.

17. There were anti-peace protesters and

pro-bush supporters in Crawford. We walked from the peace house to the crossroads about a block away. Got a few stares, but nobody said anything evil. The lady at the liberty bell replica between the two large 10 commandment monuments asked me to ring the bell, but as anyone who has heard that sound knows you need to be at least twenty feet away or your eardrums about burst. Many of these people seemed like normal country folks who have simple - although somewhat distorted - patriotic beliefs. Walking thru the small tent set up with patriotic displays, most of the talk was about their pet dogs, cookies, or church activities. I'm sure they saw our side as an attack on their way of life. But we can be sure that some of those people are thinking about what Cindy has started, and in a good way.
