I have a camper truck to drive to Houston & donate for housing/transport.
for refugees.

My friend is moving to Africa and wants to donate her camper truck to a refugee family if anyone can use it. I figure it could be used for housing (I hear the campgrounds are opening up to refugees), or at least housing and transportation for someone bused to Houston who needs to get to family elsewhere in the country.

Does anyone know of an agency that could help me coordinate such a thing? I'm driving down to help out with the refugee effort anyway, I might as well drive this camper down as anything else. Then I can probably rent a car to get back to Denver.

Any and all suggestions and leads appreciated! :hi:

2. You can also come to Dallas if you want. The evacuees
are pouring in here as well. 10,000 expected today.

My husband is volunteering at the convention center this afternoon. I can have him ask around if you like.

4. I know, everywhere in Texas needs oodles of help.
But I've got the ball rolling in Houston. Still, if your husband could ask around, I could perhaps drop it off in Dallas on the way down to Houston and then get a rental car for the rest of the trip down. That might be a viable option.

Thanks! :hi:

5. Let me ask him to ask around. The Red Cross is running the shelters
up here too, so they can probably tell you who to contact in Houston as well.

8. Camper has a new owner.
I posted it on the hurrcanehousing.org site and got a response right away. Won't be able to leave until Thursday morning, but by Friday a gentleman, his wife, and two dogs will have a place to stay. They plan on driving back to LA and parking it on the outskirts of town until they can get in to see the damage done to their home.

Thank you all for your support. Never thought this Massachusetts native would say this, but TEXAS ROCKS!!! I don't hold the idiot son against you anymore. (And his family is really from Connecticut, so who was I kidding anyway?) :hi:
