2006 Congressional Endorsement Saturday 9/17 -Vote Now!
Fellow Texans, go vote now. That's right, we have an important opportunity to support a great Texan candidate, John Courage who is running in Congressional District 21 against Lamar Smith. John is the only Texas candidate, in this round of candidates, who is up for the first official endorsement by Democracy for America. This vote is open to everyone. You do not have to be an official Democracy for America member, or even reside in Congressional District 21. Let's make sure he gets lots of Texas votes. There is no reason with the size of this state, we can't win this vote. Tell your friends, too!

Please go and vote for John Courage in CD21 before Saturday
http://www.democracyforamerica.com/housevote

This isn't just a popularity contest either. This endorsement will mean big money pouring into this race from the rest of the country and it will help John get other important endorsements. Let's get started taking this country back, one district at a time. CD21 is a race we can win.

Here's the whole official scoop:
Starting 9/13/05, Democracy for America will host an online vote to determine which congressional candidate will receive their first DFA-List endorsement of 2006. The vote will be open to all challengers and open seat candidates. The candidate with the most votes at the end of balloting will receive a DFA-List endorsement and a national e-mail from DFA’s Chair Jim Dean.

The voting will take place in two stages. First, they will hold an online vote to narrow the field of 30+ candidates that have applied for DFA's endorsement down to ten. They will then hold an instant run-off vote amongst those 10 candidates to determine the first endorsement of 2006.

The voting for each round will last for five days and will be open to all visitors to: www.democracyforamerica.com.
Safeguards will be in place to assure a one person-one vote policy. Jim Dean's e-mail appeal will be sent to supporters on behalf of the top vote-getter during the week of September 27th.

It's not just your parents, you have many friends that are living under the rule of Lamar Smith right here in Travis and I'm sure all over CD21.

Go read a brief synopsis of this weekend's town hall meeting with Lamar here in Austin. Lamar Smith Gets Schooled by Sensible Constituents. I was there, it was juicy.

At this point, a man with silver hair stood up. "Representative Smith," he said firmly, "I have been a Republican since the early 1960's." Oh, no, I thought, here it comes - shill time. This guy had to be part of the crowd called in by the Travis County Republican Party this morning to give Smith some cover.

"I pay a lot for taxes," he continued, "and I consider it a social investment. I am outraged! When this catastrophe hit, the president's response was that we should 'give to private charity.' I am outraged that this party can't support our country. We can't deal with our own self-defense. You need to fire Chertoff and these FEMA clowns. What are you doing with our tax dollars?!"

At this point, the audience broke into applause.

It's time for Courage!
