My town Lufkin, is taking in folks and pets (up to horses).

We already have Katrina evacuees here as well. On the news I was heartened to see horses being housed in the Expo center as well as cats, and dogs. One young women was sipping on a soda and would then give her horse a drink with the other end of the straw.

They are a little more difficult to house! I know there are teams across the country that respond to things like this. We have one for when there are prairie fires, we all hook up and haul the horses out. Thanks, I wondered about the horses.

2. That is such good news. I would take my horse and cats in an emergency.

Ican't ride my horse yet (too young), but I could use her to carry things (like the cat crates) if I had to leave on foot.

My horse likes sugar cubes and cafe au lait!
