WHEREAS, many citizens of the Great States of Louisiana and Mississippi, including citizens of the vibrant and historical cities of New Orleans and Gulfport, have been involuntarily (and, in some cases, permanently) displaced from their homes by the damage cause by Hurricane Katrina in the summer of 2005, and

WHEREAS, many of these displaced citizens of Louisiana and Mississippi have migrated to our Great State of Texas with their families to begin new lives as Texans, and

WHEREAS, some of these displaced citizens of Louisiana and Mississippi have established new homes in Precinct #____ of ______ County,

NOW, THEREFORE, we, the 2006 Convention Delegates of Democratic Precinct #____ of ______ County in the State of Texas, in the spirit of solidarity with our friends from Louisiana and Mississippi, do hereby:

* Welcome former citizens of Louisiana and Mississippi into our precinct with fellowship and open arms; and
* Call upon the Texas Democratic Party to issue a formal welcome to all former citizens of Louisiana and Mississippi into our Great State of Texas in the spirit of friendship, brotherhood, and sisterhood.

I know it won't actually do much, but I want something on the record that says we welcome Hurricane Katrina's victims. I doubt that the Repukes did anything similar on their end.
