Damn the naysayers, I made a precinct convention happen
I was an election judge in a precinct not my own, and I had a clerk who clerked that precinct for many years. She was a really nice lady, and I appreciated having an experienced person around for my first time. But that precinct did not have a history of having a precinct convention, and the precinct chair once got mad when one person showed up and wanted to have it. My clerk kept telling me,
"There's a lot of old people here, they don't drive at night."
"People are just getting off work, and they're too tired."
"No one will show up."

But I kept at it, telling everyone about it.

Well four people showed up, and they intend on going to the district convention, and I even ran into one of the guys at the returns-watching party. We may have four new active Democrats because someone took the time to invite them to be a part of the Party.

It's an endless cycle: They don't show up because you don't invite them, and you don't invite them because they don't show up. This old way of thinking needs to go. It takes work, but I hope I've broken this cycle for this one precinct.

2. Woo hoo!
:applause:

We had 8 including ourselves which was a pretty good number
considering thatit is a mid-term. We were allowed 19, so
we're going to try to recruit some more.

6. Way to go TTC!
It wasn't hard was it. You keep working that precinct and we'll breath life back into this party one precinct at a time.

I'm proud of you for taking the initiave.

Sonia

7. Thanks, y'all
Sometimes it's so easy to get disappointed and want to give up. It seems it takes a lot of work to get a little return. But we can't give up, and I wanted to pass on a success story to encourage everyone.
