Meanwhile, in other news, I am now a precinct chair
And weeeeeeeeeeeee!!

http://www.threebrain.com/weeeeee.shtml

Only thing is, I'm not official until I get sworn in later this month, but our current PC never showed up, so I had to step up and actually do something. I had plenty of patient help, which was very good, but the precinct convention was a bit anticlimactic.

We did get three resolutions passed (and one tabled), so we managed to do our part. Now all I have to do is rouse other voting Democrats in our precinct to fill in our delegation slate to the senatorial convention.

2. I should have done that four years ago.

Good for you for taking the initiative! :toast:

I didn't know it was possible to take over the position that way. :)

4. Actually, I submitted an actual petition to run for precinct chair
Downloaded the form, filled it out, had a notary public sign off on it, and delivered the form to Dallas County HQ. The previous PC decided not to run again, and nobody challenged me, so I ran unopposed - my name didn't even appear on the ballot.

What happened at the precinct convention, in this case, was that the previous PC never showed up, and if that happens in your precinct, then any qualified participant can get the paperwork from the election judge or out of the precinct box and act as temporary chair. You just have to be 18 years of age or older and residing in the precinct where the convention is being held.

But since I was the incoming PC, it just kinda worked out that way. :toast:

6. Congratulations, and I know your precinct is in better hands.
How about embarrassing your previous chair and ask for his GOTV list of Democrats in the precinct.
