Texas Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn sued the Texas secretary of state Friday, claiming he's hurting her campaign by unfairly enforcing rules for independent political candidates.
Strayhorn, an independent running against Republican Gov. Rick Perry in this year's November election, has complained about Secretary of State Roger Williams for weeks and even urged that he be removed from office because of his close ties with Perry. Williams, a Perry appointee, is the state's chief elections officer.
Strayhorn's campaign filed a lawsuit in federal court in Austin over Williams' plan to manually examine her petition signature by signature instead of using a statistical sampling method.
(that's all, actually, no more)
