Report from Fort Bend Democrats Headquarters Opening!
We had a GREAT time opening our Fort Bend Democrats Headquarters today! I'm not good at estimating crowds, but we were definitely CROWDED! During the candidate speeches, there was standing room only and there were lots of people outside. There were a ton of local candidates and a bunch of state candidates, some unexpected! We heard from Maria Luisa Alvarado, David Van Os, Shane Sklar, Barbara Radnofsky, Chris Bell and of course, Nick Lampson! Chris and Nick really lit the place on fire. I was really impressed with Chris. If you haven't heard him speak, I hope you will find an opportunity to do so. He's funny and hits on all of the important issues and he's ready to win this thing! I've heard Lampson speak several times and I couldn't be more impressed. He's the right person to win TX-22 for our side. I can't wait until Nov. 7th!

Juanita was there which was awesome. Marsha Rovai was honored - she was the one assaulted by the DeLay supporter at the Lampson press conference. We had hot dogs and apple pie. The weather was gorgeous.

A big thank you to johncoby and the other BAND members who drove all the way out from Clear Lake to show their support for the west side of the 22nd District! We are all in this together!!

1. We had 150-200 there and NO ONE SINGLE protester!
Chicken shits.

They didn't have the guts to attempt to disrupt. Funny there was 3 police parked across the street. I almost got the guts to take them some hot dogs!

GREAT event! Just GREAT!

4. Also, Charles Kuffner who writes Off the Kuff was there
http://offthekuff.com/mt/

Visit his blog. Great writing! I read it everyday. I appreciate that he came out to join us and it was great to meet him! I really respect his work.

Also, we had media. Channel 11, I think it was.

5. Thanks to everyone
The police estimated 350 - 400 (lots of people outside who couldn't get in!)

We really sent a message to the Republicans! I have a personal special thanks to Muse, who helped me sell shirts and caps all day!

I hope these pictures post. I'm not real sure how to do this. The first picturte if of Marsha Rovai and Chris Bell. The second picture is of the Rosenberg cops sitting in police cars across the street.

Bryan will have more up on his website tomorrow. http://bryanin22.blogspot.com/

Thanks again to the BAND people, Texas Democratic women, Katy Democrats, New Territory Democrats, and everybody else who made this a great day to be a Democrat.

8. One more note and then I have some blockwalking to do ---
My husband read my post here and asked me to make sure that everyone understands that the Rosenberg police were there at our request. They kept a distance to not impose on the event, but a watchful eye just in case some Sugar Landers got all riled-up again that we dare practice democracy. They continued to do close drive-bys until we got the place cleaned-up and went home. They have also been keeping a close eye on the place at night. Good guys.

Kuffner gives a report on the event and tells us that Fort Bend has been trending more Democratic and shows us the data. This is why blockwalking out there is so, so important! If you want to join us, pm me and I'll give you the details.:
