Wednesday night, U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith spoke to a crowd of about 20 students, most affiliated with the College Republicans of Texas. He said the United States should find an immigration solution that can keep track of exactly who is entering the country. The 10-term congressman also spoke about his political career to the small group in Mezes Hall.

Leading up to and during the talk by Smith, around 20 students with the University Democrats protested directly outside Mezes on the South Mall side of the building. They held signs and talked about student-centered issues such as federal education and tuition policy.

Bell and Democratic U.S. House candidate John Courage, who is running against Smith, participated in a more informal forum with the students. Courage led the discussion of federal funding of education and quality of education. Bell spoke about the political atmosphere in Texas and addressed the faults of a "high-stakes" standardized testing system that determines how well teachers are paid and whether students are promoted to a higher grade level.(/snip)

Burnt Orange Report also has some great video! Courage! Courage! Courage!

1. KnR!
Lamar is a total embarrassment, he knows better than to ever hold another of his so called "Town Halls" at Eanes School over here in the heart of "Liberal" Westlake Hills! We pounded him unmercifully, even the youngsters, students about fourteen, whom he turned to in hope of relief. They had well prepared questions that drew applause and placed him on the spot as well.

Poor Lamar had to resort to talking points and eventually took flight pleading a tight schedule...
