2. I have a friend that tried to switch to Green Mountain
Even after many phone calls, it never happened, so she just gave up. Seems they were a bit incompetent when it came to running a business. But that was a few years back. Hopefully they've gotten their act together.

4. billing problems, false advertising and boycotts
They triple billed me one month and then double billed me the next. My bank automatically rejected some of the duplicate charges. They went after me for rejected duplicate payments. I was never able to get it straightened out. I had to switch back. About 5 years later they hit my credit report and started trying to collect. I have very good records. I ques I am going to have to find a lawyer an sue them.

I have always suspected that my political activities might have had something to do with the problems I have had with them.

---------------

According to the PA Attorney General they are not as clean as they advertise. They apparently generate most of their power from burning stuff that doesn't have very clean emissions.

---------------
They are major Bush supporters and funded attack ads against McCain.

I would read through this web page before switching:

6. www.powertochoose.com
might help. I had the option of changing to Gexa from Reliant and am happy I did, but I live in Houston.

8. Hmm
I checked out that site. Very interesting that it told me I had no alternatives besides CenterPoint and Entergy, neither of which offers green energy (I think), and which is completely false. And this is a state-powered site, right?

But I've been with Green Mountain since deregulation. So far I haven't had the problems that some of the other posters have had. Some of the other green alternatives here (Gexa, TXU Green) have "flat" rates. Green Mountain bills "peak" and "off-peak" rates for different months out of the year, and I really still don't understand my bill. And when I emailed them to ask about it, I got a stupid generic response. I'm still thinking about switching.

Green Mountain also hits you with late charges.
