What Did Ya'll Think of the Edwards Speech?
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 10:22 PM by salonghorn70
I thought it was outstanding, inspiring, eloquent, energizing and pride-inducing.

As a parent, you know what I like best about Edwards? Every day he wears a pin that belonged to his son Wade. It must have been so tough to lose him.

1. We lost 3 more kids today in bush's fu*kin war and no one even
mentions them. This should been a mantra everyone should be saying we lost those kids every day, be upbeat if you want but ignoring there deaths seams cowardly. Sory but I'm pissed.

4. Me too. I'm sorry. It hurts more everyday to feel so helpless, not less.

9. I respectfully submit that your post is out of place here.
The subject of the thread was Edwards speech.

2. I thought he looked like a man who felt very humbled before the crowd
And yet elated that he was there. A little fast on the tempo. Good specifics, enough, not too much, and I like the slogan, Hope Is On The Way. Perfect retort for the negativity of this campaign.

It is a very tall order these men are proposing. Doable, but a tremendous amount of work. We'll see on that after they are elected.

3. I loved it
It is easy to see how he charmed juries all these years.
And I didn't know his son died. I hadn't heard him mention it.

5. Wade
He was killed at the age of 16 in an auto accident. Here is a link to the Wade Edwards Foundation

6. I was weeping by the end of the part about
mothers married to Guard members. Even though my DH is on a base and not overseas, he was still speaking about me. My husband could be deployed any day from now, and I may not get to see him before that happens. I am lonely, living paycheck to paycheck (even though I am also employed), and have to be both parents right now.

12. I also loved that part-he had a way of personalizing
this country and bringing us all together. I hope that all goes well for you and your husband. And hope that we get a new president so that wars will be fought on necessity not choice.

11. I thought it was a great speech
As a parent of 2 daughters (one of them there on the floor at the Fleet Center listening to that awesome speech) I could not help but wonder when he was talking to and about his parents: who was prouder of whom?
:)

13. Hope is on the way
I loved seeing John Edwards and his whole family (including his Mom and Dad in the audience). What a great family. I especially loved when he talked about the responsibility he feels he has to all Americans. He saw first hand growing up in the South during segregation, what these divisions did to us. I for one believe he is very genuine about making sure we work toward making "One America". There is no doubt in my mind that the bush cabal is working hard to create a bigger division in this country. Their job is to keep the "have and have more" base safely gated, counting their money, and far away from the majority of this country who struggle every day. I loved his wife Elizabeth telling us that she married the most optimistic man in the country. I believe it too. I loved the message that hope is on the way. We'll take hope and the repukes and keep fear.

And Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton were great speakers too.

Keep Hope Alive!!

Sonia
