I grew up in Beaumont. I remember when the coeds at Lamar Tech could walk across campus and their nylons would dissolve right off their legs.

I knew people in South Park (yes, it's the original) who would wake up with a headache every morning. Thye had to wash the black dust off their homes every three months. The grass in their yards would inexplicably die evey once in awhile.

Now, Port Arthur... you sure didn't wanna go down there without a gasmask.

5. We lived

in that area (South Park) for six months. I actually liked that part of town better than the newer ones. Out of desperation to be with water (are from Austin after all), we went down to the Nueces River, which is brown, not like the blue stuff we have here. Sad.

Water-skied it a time or two in college; got a skin infection each time. This was in the late '70s. I'm sure the water quality has improved greatly since the landfill, rising over the years a couple of hundred feet into the sky like a volcanic dome -- just to the north of the IH-10 bridge -- was closed.

You know, when we were little kids we would run behind the mosquito trucks spraying the fog. That had to have been DDT we were playing in, since it was the '60s.

Doesn't seem to have hurt me none.

I have heard that so many times.. the mosquito trucks. Sure I remember, but we stayed indoors.

I can't even use those bug sprays now. When the neighbors were spraying down the picnic table outside, I took my food inside to eat.
This is what I did: I got soooo sweet, those buggers are not even interested in me any more :D No bites. No spray. And I'm like superwoman at outside eateries when the bees attack someone's sweet tea. Go away little bee.

But I still can't detect bullshit. (unless it comes from Washington DC)
Is that on the shelf for future development?
