Chron: White to Announce Run for Senate!

The Hou Chronicle reports tonight Bill White will run for the senate seat should Kay Bailey vacate it this summer. Funny tidbit in the article-White didnt tip off the DSCC of his plans and they are surprised. Sharp met with the DSCC a couple fof weeks ago to try and secure their support. White severely complicates matters for Sharp and the DSCC. This will be intersting. It looks like everyone wants to run for senate and not guv, so far...

We'll have contested primaries on both sides. Hopefully it will drive up the voter turnout and we'll get a better chance at a portion of a seat. White or Sharp may not be progressive choices but it's still a step forward from a KBH or a Cornyn.

there is no primary. its all candidates both dem and repub on one ballot. the 2 tope vote getters go to a runoff. bor says van de putte looking to run now. now that would be cool

So everyone can run. And the winner doesn't have to make the 50% +1 margin either? Or is there a runoff between the top two vote getters.

3. For silly emotional reasons, I'm leaning toward White

Would anyone care to talk me out of that position? I have no strong (good) feelings about any of the candidates on our side.

5. I love Leticia....

She was one of the folks who got up and spoke (very convincingly) in that nasty August heat in front of the Capitol when we were there protesting redistricting.

If I was still there I'd vote for her in a heartbeat.

Bill White has more or less become political roadkill at this point unless you believe in "pay to play" which obviously he does. He almost makes Tom De Lay look good. The Houston Chronicle apparently couldn't stand the stench any longer and opened the windows.

You can spray a skunk with Chanel Number 5. It is still a skunk. And Bill White is a skunk.
