DU Texas should have a lobby day in Austin! anyone interested?
If we would like to do this, we can pick a day from Tues-Thursday. Select a couple of topics, and meet in Austin to lobby our elected officials. We can provide some training in the morning with coffee aand snacks, then work the halls for the day.

How many would be interested?

1. That would be great
What issue do you want to focus on? I'm already doing weekly lobbying on election issues.

If anyone wants to work on environmental issues, there is an upcoming training and lobby in February for Alliance for Clean Texas (ACT) If you have never lobbied your representative, going on a lobby day with an organized group is a good way to do this. You usually get teamed up with someone and they do all the training for you. Great way to get your feet wet.

ACT - Registration for training and lobby forum
Please fill out the form below to register for the 2009 ACT lobby days on February 17th & 18th. Lobby Training will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17th, with lobby visits on Wednesday, February 18th.

2. Very, but I can't miss a day of work unless I'm flat on my back, for several reasons. nt

3. Great idea!!!
I would certainly attend. I think it's a great idea. With Democrats gaining strength in the state legislature, I think it would be great show of support and one the might soon tip the scales in our direction. Let me know what I can do.

5. Thanks
Thank you. I've been a silent observer for quite some time now.

6. Make sure you take your American Express card...

Truly appalling. And the Chronicle of course hasn't really looked into it. The lobbyists are just as popular with some of the Democrats as they are the Republicans. What we really need to lobby for is to get rid of the lobbyists.

8. I would like to go, work permitting
I went with some folks from our party two or three years ago and it was a great time. I've known a lot of people's names here but never have seen faces.

9. I'm interested
I've never done lobby work before. One of my resolutions this year is to be more politically active so this would be a perfect way to start.
