You can keep us posted with what's going on the side that is "reality challenged".
I signed Cornyn's guestbook a while back to leave him some comments and he sends me his regular e-mail newsletter grandstanding about how effective he is. It's a hoot to read. Here is a snipnet from the January 9th newsletter:
On Tuesday I had the honor of being officially sworn-in to the United States Senate for another six years. It has truly been a privilege to represent the fine people of Texas in the Senate for the last six years, and I am ready to hit the ground running in the new Congress. I will do my part to ensure that the needs of Texans are a top priority.
I know these are hard times for many Texans, and tackling the economic problems we currently face is my top priority. I will push to enact pro-growth, common-sense solutions, such as tax breaks for small businesses and American families, that will help put our economy back on the right track.
While some would rather delay, I believe now is the time to address the critical issue of our growing federal deficit. The Congressional Budget Office has forecasted that the deficit will reach $1.2 trillion this year, and this projection does not include President-elect Obama’s spending proposal, which may total more than $1 trillion. Congress cannot keep writing checks for future generations to pay, and I remain committed to finding ways to reduce out-of-control federal spending.
Additionally, it concerns me that the Democrats’ proposed economic stimulus package is being written behind closed doors with little input from outside parties. I will continue to be your strongest advocate for a more open and transparent government that allows American taxpayers to know how their hard-earned dollars are being spent.
Now he has a problem with the federal deficit. Nary a peep when his bush boy was running the deficit up with the cost of two wars. That wasn't the time to speak up.
And he's so concerned about back room closed deliberations now. Where was his concern when bushie was wiretapping the American people? Oh that's right - he has no problem with torture or wiretapping Americans. Those processes should definitely be done behind closed doors with no input from the American people. :puke:
