Jury awards whistle-blower $900,000
Morrison sued after she lost her job at civil rights agency after alleging discrimination.

A Travis County jury has awarded a woman $900,000 after finding that she was fired from her job at a state civil rights agency for complaining about discrimination against minorities at the agency.

The jury arrived at the verdict Monday after a six-day trial in a lawsuit that Marilou Morrison filed against the Texas Commission on Human Rights and the Texas Workforce Commission, said Gary Bledsoe, one of Morrison's attorneys

"The agency that is supposed to enforce civil rights is being hit with basically a million dollar judgment for violating the very statutes they are required to enforce," Bledsoe said on Tuesday.

Morrison declined to comment. The Texas attorney general's office, which defended the state agencies, also declined to comment Tuesday.

:wow:
Good for her! Only in Texas could the state agency for protecting civil rights violate those statutes themselves. This sounds like the politicization of DOJ at the federal level. Did Gonzo work at this TX agency?
