I guess Ted Poe doesn't feel he needs to. He has a poll on his website that states 83.59% don't want government run health care and 86.26% are happy with their health care.

His website is sickening. He is a "birther" and a "deather" all rolled up into one. I'm sure my emails give his office a good laugh before they are promptly deleted. Ugggg.

1. Well you now know why
He is a "birther" and a "deather" all rolled up into one.

Doesn't mean you shouldn't contact him. Send him a letter or give his office a call and tell them you support health care reform anyway.

Someone on another list reminded those of us in Texas that we already have real death panels in place thanks to Perry and his crew. It's called the futile-care law and for profit hospitals got Perry and crew to pass it so they could literally kill anyone they deemed unworthy to live. To be fair Garnet Coleman (D) introduced the law but I'm not sure that what passed was his original language and intent. I'm sure the for profit hospital lobby loved it.

Maybe you should suggest to Poe that he sponsor an amendment to the bill to outlaw futile-care laws in the country. He's pro-life - shouldn't he support that?

Right to life vs. 'futile-care law'

By Howard Witt
Chicago Tribune

HOUSTON - If it had been up to her doctors, the Houston hospital where she was treated, and the laws of the state of Texas, Kalilah Roberson-Reese would be dead by now.

Instead, the severely brain-damaged 29-year-old woman is being cared for in a Lubbock nursing home, where she has become a focal point in a growing struggle over a controversial Texas law that permits hospitals to withdraw life support from patients whose conditions they deem hopeless - even if family members object.

(snip)
"But I am unhappy with the statute because of the way it loads the dice in favor of doctors and hospitals," Winslade added. "The patients and their families just don't have any resources.... We don't need a law that appears to be railroading the families."

2. You make a great point.
I will continue to write and I'll use the 'futile-care law.' It is just discouraging sometimes. I meant to put a fiddle on my post, but forgot :) Thanks Sonia.

3. Mine, either. Pete Sessions. Far right Repub. No need for a HC mtg. They're
all in lock step with each other. No debate or discussion necessary, I guess.

How much irony can you cram into two sentences? This may be a world record:

Rep. Ted Poe will hold a town hall meeting at Brookside Funeral Home on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 10 a.m. with the primary focusing being health care reform.

The "death panels" of course make many appearances in the comments.

Poe is a Gramm stander if I've ever seen one. Phil Gramm is surely proud of him.

7. That is where I found it last night.
You can't get much lower than this. I did contact The Daily Show and Colbert Report. Maybe one of them can have some fun with this. It is a sad joke, but maybe they can make it funny.
