Houston Area DUers.... The Local Show at the Scout Bar in CL
Hi y'all:-)

My friends, Mercury Down, will be playing at the Scout Bar Sunday night, Feb 13th (18307 Egret Bay Blvd, Clear Lake).

Anyone care to join me there? :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

1. Is that the place by "The Cross-Eyed Seagull"?
I can't keep up with the clubs in CL. They seem to change so often.

2. I think it is across Nasa1 from Cross-eye.
Isn't Cross-eye on the northern side of Nasa1?

Scout Bar is where Liquid Lounge used to be.... I think... it has changed names sooooo many times. Downstairs in the same building as Rock Neutney's.

3. Ah, yes. Rock Neutney's.
I don't live in CL anymore, but I'll be down in May for a wedding.

The Cross-Eyed Seagull is, or at least was, south of Nasa 1, right by the cool book store. Just a block north of Rock Neutney's.

Mustn't forget about the Outpost.

And whatever happened to the "Seabrook Beach Club"? Huge club, sits vacant.

Actually, I lived just a couple of blocks from "Boondoggles". I was able to ride my bicycle there and have a couple of Guinness now and then.

4. There is another bar just across Nasa1, and I ALWAYS confuse it
Edited on Wed Feb-02-05 02:48 PM by Lisa0825
with the Seagull!!!

I used to go to the Beach Club now and then. They had cheap crawfish and pitchers on Wednesday nights. The last few times I went on a weekend, it was mostly empty.

I used to work at the Hop. That was fun:-) I still go there occasionally. I like the all-ages-all-types crowd there. Not your typical "cool kids" kind of bar.

There was another bar right down from the Seabrook Beach Club, and I can't remember the name of that one either.

And there was a big club off of El Dorado I used to party at alll the time several years ago... next to Molly Maguires(?). I think it was the same guys who opened Liquid Lounge. Had three clubs in one. The Hunger used to work/play there. I stage dove there once and got my blouse ripped open! hahahaha! Oh, those were the days!

Oh, I forgot to add... Turtle Club! Had some fun times there! My best friend fell in the water there one night. we were already fdrunk when we got there, and she bent down to pick up the keys I had dropped. fell over backwards through a little opening to the water. The cop was about to jump in after her when she finally surface, minus one shoe and her wallet!LOL

We went home, dried her off, and came back!

6. I hung out at Molly's a lot.
I still have some very good friends down there in Clear Lake who I miss. I used to like to hit all those places. How about the Turtle Club?

My nights out drinking are pretty much all behind me now.

5. Oh, did you hear the Outpost caught fire last week?
They didn't lose any of their memorabilia though. Neon lights overheated, apparently.

7. It was only a matter of time.
There's no way a place like that would pass a fire code inspection up here in Chicago.

8. I heard good things about the Outpost, but I guess you had to be
with your own group there. Not much mingling going on. I went there with two friends, and it was really dead.

Oh, and I left out Sherlocks. Very young crowd, but decent bands, and decent place to go alone. I used to have a big 'ol crush on one of the doormen. Total cutie pie! 10 years younger than me tho! Oops!:-)

9. Sherlocks.
No offense, but....it's kind of funny that in Clear Lake all you have to do is take a big box in a strip mall, paint it green, pin a couple of Killian's posters up, give it a name like Sherlocks....and every thinks it's an Irish Pub.

10. It's a chain... whaddaya expect?LOL
But they do have live music, which there ain't much of down this way, and I usually know at least one of the bands who are there in any given month, so I can go by myself and not feel totally alone.

12. I think it will probably be around 11pm.
I think the BUZZ crew gets there at 10pm, and the band plays at 11pm, but I will see if I can find out for sure.

18. Verification on time: Mercury Down goes on at 11pm
I emailed the owner of the bar to ask, and he says that since it is a Buzz event, they do keep to the schedule. They will play from 11 to 11:40, and there are two other bands and a "listening party," which means local acts CDs get played on the air, while the DJ broadcasts from the bar.

First band: 10-10:30pm
Buzz Listening Party: 10:30-11pm
Second band: 11-11:40pm
Featured Artist: Midnight - ?

19. I checked out the Scout Bar this weekend.
Pretty cool place. Decent stage. Adjoining dance club. Patio out back. Munchies cart set up outside late in the evening (though I don't know if that's just for weekends or not.)

Seems to be the same guys who were involved with my former favorite bar (don't recall the name. It closed several years ago). Saw two guys from The Hunger there, who worked at the other bar in off-times.

scout bar

Hope to see y'all there!

Like their music or don't, but I don't get what your grudge is.
