From the Kronenburg Quorum report:

February 8, 2005 4:30 PM
DALLAS DELEGATION ON RED ALERT OVER POSSIBLE $100 MILLION MEDICAID FUNDING LOSS TO PARKLAND AND OTHER HOSPITALS
Dallas County taxpayers have to cover the difference?
Dallas members of the Texas House signed a letter to Albert Hawkins, Commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission a couple of weeks ago calling on him to hold off on implementing the so-called Star Plus program. The program essentially outsources the delivery of Texas medicaid in urban areas to HMO style delivery systems.

A provision in the federal funding formulas are such that implementation could save the state $40 or so million but deprive Parkland and other providers in Dallas County of more than $100 million in medicaid funding.

Don't we already pay enough taxes? Sheesh.

1. Hate to say it, but that's what Texas wanted
When they voted for Shrub. A real shame that low income people have to suffer for suburbanites ignorance and racism.

3. And it's not just Texas anymore.
All states will find their Medicaid funds reduced, and their taxpayers filling the hole.

Sad.....

4. Not sure what you're talking about.

Sounds to me like Parkland will continue as is, and Dallas county will just have to pick up the tab for the proposed Medicare cuts. Dallas and most urban areas in Texas, BTW, voted for Kerry.

It's just more and more crap getting shoved off on the local governments because the Republicans are trying to dump everything from the federal government to the localities. All it's going to do is hurt local (individual) property owners even more. Dallas property taxes are already sky-high because that's how the schools are funded.

I wish we'd just go ahead and have a state income tax.

2. Is there any way we could get Dallas to take GW back and make
him mayor or something? Hell, you could make him King of Texas and I wouldn't mind.

9. Reportedly his ass will land in Dallas after his regime ends...
Laura Bush was quoted as saying that she and chimp would probably get a house in Dallas when he finally ends his regime years...she didn't say where but I think we all could guess correctly with Highland Park..since it is probably the only "still red" part of Dallas County.
Guess they are saving the ranch for photo ops of him pretending to be a ranch cowboy.

8. Aren't a lot of nursing home patients
being kept there by the Medicaid program?

Is this Shrub's backdoor euthanasia to go with his backdoor draft?

Whatever happened to the pro-lifers? They used to scream about both abortion and euthanasia before they got distracted by the gay issues.
