6 American Kestrals on the way home from Llano this afternoon. I have started keeping binoculars in the truck so we got view them up close.
I know this doesn't have anything to do with politics, but I just had to tell y'all.

1. That's great! Were they all together? |
|
I've never heard of them banding together.
You should join the birders group on DU!!

2. 2 of them were together. |

Could have been a male and female.
The rest were spaced fairly evenly over about an 18 mile stretch of rural highway.
One of them was doing the helicopter thing and then dropping down. It was really neat. I've never seen a kestrel do this before.
I knew that there were kestrels around here, but I've never seen that many in such a short time. I generally see redtailed and coopers hawks along that stretch of road.
we are planning on fixing up one of our outbuildings here on our place in the country as a bed & breakfast and marketing to birders.
