Pete Ashdown
Pete Ashdown sent me a letter I'd like to pass on to you, and I would like to encourage you to pass it on to others as well. They need not be Utahns or Democrats, they only need to be Americans. When you forward his letter, please preface it with your own comments as to why you believe a native Utah businessman who has supported the local community is someone you can trust in Washington.

Thank you!

Clarity

PS - Remember, tonight at 8 pm you can chat live with Pete at http://peteashdown.org/chat.html

In late March of this year, I announced my candidacy for United States Senate
representing Utah. In the past few months, I have been working on this race
full-time and meeting with Utahns of all political stripes. I believe now
more than ever that it is possible to win this race.
Today's announcement by State Representative Steve Urquhart that he will
challenge Senator Hatch at the GOP convention is good news. It shows that
many Republicans believe it is time for Senator Hatch to retire. What I
require now is a strong show of support for my candidacy.
As a native Utahn, I have built my business XMission from scratch and returned
support to the local community many times over. Now I am asking the community
to support me. Financial contributions will reflect this support better than
anything else. I would be honored if you would consider contributing now.
My website has much more information on me and the ability to contribute
online. Thank you for your time.

1. Pete Ashdown In A Showdown
I met Pete at the convention in the spring. I told him I was joining the Navy and I wanted him to give Hatch hell and he answered in the affirmative and wished me luck and thanked me. A stand up guy. I think his chances are slim but then again I love an underdog and Pete is a smart guy, he knows this is a kamikaze mission which is why I hope he takes the gloves off. What he is doing is almost like challenging the LDS President.

Though it is a good sign that Hatch is being confronted by Urquhart I doubt that he will pose a serious threat and Urquhart probably just signed over his political future, barring a miracle. However I think that the winds are changing in America and even in Utah. I'm not saying that it is possibly purple but it's definately not blood red any longer.

Pete has a fight on his hands and it's going to take the entire grassroots progressive network to fight this one if we want to leave even an indent in Hatch's reputation. I'm not sure that the Party under Holland's leadership is ready for it but I sure hope they can pull it out. If Hatch went down, that would be a K.O. to the Republicans both nationally and locally. He is afterall "the gentleman of the Senate" and a long sitting member of some influence. If you ask me he's weakest where he thinks he's strongest. Healthcare. He takes millions in donations from Big Pharma then puts their money where his mouth is. He is one of the reasons why we don't have a comprehensive health plan in America. He expouses family values, morality and decency all while stripping Americans of their healthcare rights thus furthering along the decline of values, morality and decency and plunging us ever further into crisis. He produces CD's where he is leading others in prayer and singing songs of God's glory all while offending the nature of God's compassion through human intervention. He is weak, not weak enough probably but if Pete really wants to shake things up in Utah, if he really wants to give it a shot than this is how he will achieve that. He can't treat it like a bike ride, or something to pass the time doing, he has to fight and fight hard.

3. Pete's Great!
Pete's definitly who I'm voting for. I've had business with Xmission in several capacities (my job and with non-profits I volunteer for) and they've been super helpful! They donated CASH to Lake Effect Writer's Conference last year, which REALLY REALLY helped us meet budget!

I wish all politicians had such a community oriented ethos in what they do.
