I just wanna talk about Vermont
I have been going to Brattleboro a couple of times a week lately with my mom, and I swear There is something magical about that town. I don't mean to get all geeky or anything, but I felt like I was going to one of those wizard villages in the Harry Potter movies.

I think it probably has something to do with the fact that their are more writers per capita in Vermont than anywhere else in the US.

1. A good friend of mine is considering a move to Vermont. . .
from California. He has relatives there (can't say where) and from the pictures and descriptions he's given it seems very nice. I could never live there (South California born and raised -- it gets below 65 and that's heavy coat triple-brrr weather) but I'd like to visit some day. It's kind of why I hope my friend makes the move, though I doubt his wife will agree (like me, she believes snow is something you should only visit).

I was unaware Vermont had so many writers in residence. That would be a welcome change from my corner of the universe.

I googled Brattleboro for photos. Very nice place. Quite unlike South California.

2. I'm moving to upstate NY soon and it's not far from the Vermont border.
Vermont does have a special quality. I plan on exploring more of Vermont
when I have the time.

One place I did visit was "Merck Forest Preserve". http://www.merckforest.com/# Very cool sustainable farm and forestry projects.

3. It was around -30 with windchill the other day.
And then the storms came and we got 3 feet of it.

I live just on the border with Vermont as well. Merk looks cool, they charge to much for shelters though when ou can stay in them for free on the Appalachian Trail.

I'm going to look up that site again. I guess your paying for more than shelter then:)

Here are a couple of articles I found when I googled "Vermont" today.

Here is an article on the "Buster The Bunny" controversy.

And here's a sad story-
