Ed Flanigan in serious condition--car crash

Vermont state Sen. Edward Flanagan is in serious condition in hospital after his car went off the road and plunged into a gully.

Vermont State Police say roads were treacherous at the time and Flanagan lay unconscious in the overturned for several hours before he was discovered.

Capt. William Sheets said that it was sheer luck that the vehicle was spotted at all.

"You could not pick a worse spot for your vehicle not to be seen," he said.
