1. I have a hard time imagining that any independent
would ever be safe in the US Senate.

2. Vermont voted 60% 38% in favor of Kerry.
It is a very Blue state.

3. All the more reason for the Democrats to run someone hard
there against Jeffords. I'm sure the Republicans will.

5. I suppose it would depend on what kind of challenge he faces
from the Republicans.

His re-election bid should be very interesting, politically.

9. obviously he'll get more support from our party with Dean as DNC chair..
as an opponent of the Iraqi war resolution, a Kerry-Edwards voter, and a supporter of universal healthcare..I think Jeffords can kick ass in the primary.

If Jeffords wins our primary, November would be a cakewalk!

8. voting record
i was browsing through his voting record in the senate for 04, and more often than not he votes like a republican- i don't think he'll see "too much" opposition from the republicans

10. better make sure the elections are legit
Vermont uses Diebold hardware, and optical scan system that is vulnerable to hacking and fraud.

11. not in my neck of the woods...
we use good old #2 pencils on a big paper ballot.
As for Jeffords 'if' he decides to run (and there is great speculation that he will not) it is his. If not, then I believe that Bernie Sanders has his eye on it and if he wants it, he's got it
