3. True Seattlites never use umbrellas

Bumbershoot notwithstanding.

Goretex and hooded rainwear, yes. But mostly acceptance. Water is life.

7. If it's really pouring, and I have to walk more than a few blocks--
--I'll give in and use one. For most of the mist-through-light-rain conditions that usually prevail here, it's a waste of time. I used rainpants and GoreTex only on my canvassing jaunts, though--too much other stuff in my hands to deal with an umbrella.

5. I have umbrellas but rarely use them
(only if I'm going to a play or something and can't mess up my hair and clothes).

On the other hand, I have seen people in Seattle using umbrellas for both snow and sun! (I'm a transplant - it seems strange to me to see someone sporting an umbrella in the snow).
