National Weather Service asks you to name last week's storm
How about the "Great Two Weeks Before Christmas Storm." Or the "The 49ers Storm" (in honor of the team that beat the Seahawks). Or maybe the "2000 and Sick Storm." Or perhaps, "The PSE Storm."

The local National Weather Service office, struggling with what to call last week's ravaging wind storm, is asking the public to come up with a name for the Big Blow.

"We need a catchy name," said Ted Buehner, with the National Weather Service. "People will remember this storm for years to come."

We have the Inauguration Day Storm in 1993, the Turkey (Thanksgiving) Day Storm of 1983 and the Columbus Day Storm of 1962.

Entries should be sent to namethewindstorm@noaa.gov and will be accepted through January 4.

2. Is this part of the same storm ...
.. that socked in Mt Hood? If so, maybe "the Kelly James storm". More was lost there than a football game.

And they're having as many listeners as they can call this in! :eyes: Might as well name the storm 'Elvis'.

6. How clever.
Thirteen people died, they want to make a big joke out of it. I guess not enough time has passed for me to have much of a sense of humor about it yet. :eyes:

8. Name
How about THE SURGE 2006, a reminder of Bush's idea to send even more Americans to be killed? And it's not funny.

11. "The Rumsfeld Resignation Day Storm"
Edited on Tue Dec-26-06 07:42 PM by SeattleVet
Wasn't it the day of his big going-away bash and ceremony? We blew him away!

I think it is the best way to remember him - leaving office (even better would be "Rumsfeld Indictment Day", but that hasn't happened yet).
