Eyman files Taxpayer Protection Initiative

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Tim Eyman says he's filed the "taxpayer protection initiative" in Olympia.

It would require a two-thirds vote of the Legislature or voter approval for any tax increase.

Any proposal to raise taxes would have to go through a study by the state budget office, with public hearings, on its cost over ten years.

1. *yawn*
Timmy, we get it already. You don't think the legislators that we elected should be able to, um, make legislation. You think we, the "taxpaying citizens" should be doing that. Because, as we all know, all our fellow citizens have so much spare time to thoroughly inform themselves on all the issues...

Moran, your 15 minutes are up. Go sell some more watches.

3. Taxpayer Protection Initiative?
None of his asshat propositions have done a damned thing to protect taxpayers. I-695 devastated local communities and his property tax initiative is so full of loopholes as to be nonexistent.

The only Eyeman-related initiative that could protect taxpayers is to officially declare him a Horse's ass.

4. I thought he tried this already, and the Court slapped him down
As I recall, such a bill would require changing the state Constitution to either give the People the power of taxation (it and the power to amend the state constitution are reserved to the Legislature only) and changing the state Constitution to require more than a simple majority to pass a bill.

5. he makes lots of money filing these initiatives
Through public disclosure it came out last time (or the time before) that he had, despite his assertions that he was non-profit, made lots of money.

His interest is not for the WA tax payers but for his own pocketbook.

7. What would it take to get that asshole to leave the state?
He belongs somewhere very unpopulated, full of angry property owners who hate the government. Hmmm... any ideas?
