As one of the largest Freecycle groups in the country, we can sometimes arrange a special benefit that's not available to the general public:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/freecycleseattle/From now through the end of November, FreecycleSeattle members can recycle all computers (of *any* age or type) and some CRT monitors (ones built after January 2000 and still working) - all for FREE at Interconnection. org, just north of Gasworks in Wallingford. Normally, Interconnection charges a handling fee of $5 for each computer and $10 for monitors; these fees will be _waived_ when you mention FreecycleSeattle .
This is a great chance to get rid of that electronic flotsam and jetsam in your basement and garage in a way that's both environmentally responsible *and* free. (If the company you work for has a back room full of dead and unused computers - and most do! - Interconnection can also arrange for free pickup.)
THE FINE PRINT: non-working or pre-year-2000 monitors (look at the sticker on the back!) will still be charged the normal $10 handling fee; laser or inkjet printers are still $5-10 depending on weight. Offer only good through November 30th, and only during Interconnection' s normal business hours - see below.
Interconnection is one of the best examples of e-waste re-use/recycle that we know of. Volunteers disassemble the donated systems; usable components are reused or resold; complete systems are re-assembled and shipped to developing countries; all other parts are crushed, sorted and properly recycled. Good folks.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE WITH YOUR OLD COMPUTER
Help low income people and non profits get online by donating your old computer to the InterConnection Computer Reuse and Learning Center. The Center provides free computer skills classes and donates computers to anyone who completes the program.
All computers will accepted, working or not. Donators who mention FreeCycleSeattle do not have to pay a handling fee for their computers (any age) or monitors (if built in the year 2000 or newer). Handling fees will still be charged for older (pre-2000) monitors and printers.
