Blue Angels will return to Seafair
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2003705861_angels14m.html

Which means that, yet again, I will be forced to leave town that weekend (I live on Capitol Hill, right under the flight path of this "show.")

1. I just heard that on the radio - with a fill in pilot
I am not sure who to call and complain to about this - the mayor's office? the Seafair committee?

3. All complaints are ignored
If you are lucky, they are politely ignored. If you are not so lucky, you are first told off. One of my neighbors actually had her patriotism called into question when she sought to file suit with regards to Seattle's anti-noise ordinance two or three years ago.

Money talks and the citizens have to just shut up and put up.

9. Ignored would not be my first choice of wording, but
I cannot think of a better one at the moment.

My understanding, which may not be accurate, is that there are not enough folks like you who don't like the show because of the noise and other reasons; you are simply out numbered by a huge margin by the fans of the show.

2. This is good news for those of us who
like air shows!

4. You don't live directly under the flightpath, do you?
Those of use who have to put up with the extreme noise aren't quite so sanguine about it.

5. They buzz downtown, and I work in a skyscraper
it terrifies me.

7. Downtown you should be fine.
There they are just doing large sweeping turns to regroup.

The crazy people are the boaters on the log boom. They are the ones who risk having wreckage and burning jet fuel raining down on them since the lake is the crossing point (collision zone) for all of the stunts.

Seattle is one of the favorite cities for the Blue Angels. It offers lots of natural and man-made landmarks to use for reference points during the show.

8. Crazy people on the log boom
Are probably more dangerous than the planes to the average citizen. Some of those clowns have been out there drinking non-stop for three days.

But then, I like planes and I'm a recovering alcoholic.

10. But I hate it! Have I no rights?
It messes up two workdays a year for me, it's been going on for years, and I think they actually do go over some points of downtown. They must, because I see them on both sides of my building.

11. Start a campaign to Ban them from Seafair, LisaM!

Why does this nation cover itself in the glories of WARPLANES?
Why should we watch helplessly as WARPLANES fly over our cities?
Why do they perfome at airshows AT ALL???
How many college scholarships could be paid for with the cost of the jet fuel from just one of these WARPLANES?

I say, BAN THE BLUE ANGELS from the sky! the USA needs to stop this insane practice of glorifying anything WAR like! jeesh!

12. I can't stand them.
One year I left town. We might do that again this year. The noise just drives me nuts.

6. Live under it, no.
I worked under it for seven years though. Not so much work gets done during the flights as everyone is looking out the windows...

13. Now word comes that there was a Snowbird crash in Canada
Snowbirds are their equivalent and, in fact, subbed when the Blue Angels didn't come a couple of years.

It's not safe to have fighter jets going overhead like that.
