I think the Columbia City market (Wednesdays) is really pretty good.

(BTW, not organic, but I found butter lettuce at MacPherson's for $.33 this week! Small artichokes for $.10! Yay, cheap produce!)

2. I really miss the Market Basket CSA

Some years back, when I was working at Seattle Public Library, I joined the Market Basket program, which delivered a basket of fresh produce and flowers once a week right to our workplace. It wasn't inexpensive, but the food was a revelation, well worth the money - especially considering that most of it went directly to the farmers, and transportation costs were minimal. They discontinued the program last year, which I was sorry to hear (I was no longer a member, since I no longer worked downtown). I'm seriously considering joining a southend CSA if I can find one, for so many reasons.

I never even liked peaches until I got them, sunwarmed and only hours off the tree, in August, fully ripe. They didn't keep long, but they were like liquid gold - amazing. Those peach-like softballs in the grocery store are nothing whatsoever like the farm-fresh fully ripe ones.
