1. Here's the article from the P-I
King County Prosecutor Norm Maleng died Thursday night after collapsing at the University of Washington.

Maleng, 68, apparently was at an event in the UW Urban Horticulture Building when he collapsed.

A fire department spokesman said Maleng was rushed to the hospital after medics were called to the university at about 7:20 p.m. While medics worked on Maleng, a number of Seattle and King County officials, including Seattle Police Chief Gil Kerlikowske, Sheriff Sue Rahr and County Executive Ron Sims, arrived at the hospital.

Family members and personal friends also gathered at the hospital in tears, and a statement was issued just after 10:30 p.m., confirming Maleng's death.

2. Thanks for the link.
I remember years ago when one of his children died in a sledding accident.

3. Yes, I remember that very well.
She was about my age when it happened. It was very sad.

4. Prosecutor for nearly 30 years.
I find that incredible. He was quite a capable attorney. He was the only Republican I've ever voted for.

RIP.

5. I always voted for him, and for SOS Sam Reed, another Republican,
as I felt they put their jobs ahead of their politics, and I admire that so very much.

7. It's sadly something that has become very rare.

8. Indeed. And after this week, it appears especially true of both
sides of the aisle.

11. Ooooh, can you remind me of what that was about?
I'm recalling the name, but not the crime.

12. Our very own homegrown vote suppression attempt--
--thankfully nipped in the bud by King County Dems Chair Suzie Sheary and the LD chairs, plus the grassroots folks who did the legwork.

13. Thanks, eridani.
I agree, I do wish he had gone after her. But I still say that overall, Maleng was a good guy. I guess we don't get everything we want, huh?
