County Councilwoman Hague now accused of campaign-finance violations
King County Councilwoman Jane Hague has been hit with a new problem that, like her recently revealed drunken driving charge, could be damaging politically as well as financially.

The staff of the state Public Disclosure Commission, in an administrative complaint Friday, accused her of multiple violations of campaign finance laws.

It said the Bellevue Republican was late, sometimes by more than 13 months, in filing numerous reports of campaign contributions, expenditures and bank deposits; failed to disclose occupations and other required information about contributors, and accepted contributions in excess of the allowable limit of $700 from eight donors.

The complaint said Hague also violated laws governing surplus funds accounts, which are strictly regulated accounts for leftover campaign funds. It said she illegally filed several expenditure and fund-transfer reports late, some by as much as 15 months, and reimbursed herself for expenses -- including campaign contributions to other politicians -- for which surplus funds can't be used.

2. If Hague loses the election, we still won't win
Her one and only opponent is Richard Pope, noted Republican gadfly who is running against Hague as a Democrat.

3. I was at the UW with him.
Well, I was an undergrad while he was in law school. He used to bring in these crazy letters to the editor all the time (like every other day). Somehow I'm not surprised he's still running for office...

4. Nobody looks that far into it. !
And those cops should be catching sexual predators not drunken politician's! Republican people do not expect one of their own to keep track of all the money and actually tell the truth about where it goes and how it is used!

Accountability is word you use on the campaign trail, or something you tell the people after you have already been elected-it doesn,t really mean anything! Haven,t you people been fallowing George ,use you all screws you all ,that the real name of the game!

Oh well, there,s always the old rehab trick ,check in dirty ,check out clean and brand new. Maybe Magic MaGavic will want to get in on it-Batman rides again!

What,s the crime in having a few too many!

5. What all adds up is
Edited on Thu Aug-30-07 02:32 PM by Wash. state Desk Jet
That somehow Washington State and Washington DC threw the 2004 elections has certain binding connections threw the republican right wing efforts which may be highly illegal and perhaps prov-en in the courts. There was a time not so long ago where it seemed or was made to seem that those right wingers were unstoppable.

Corruption seemed to never cease and still does.
But the last two years have shown us different-they are getting themselves caught and they are facing the nation as a result of their crimes.

And the President- Mr. Bush too is facing the reality in the fact that all bases are not completely covered such as it once seemed. This is to say that the President of the United States may be facing the fact that he too has limitations and the fact beyond that he may have exceeded his own legal bounds.

Impeachment is the big word on the table. But the complications are greater .
Nixon abruptly resigned one fine day.
The complications in the here and now go far beyond that. At the same time the only place of comparison is 71-74.

Bush got it right when he said it,s a different world today than it was back in 73.

If you call it Karma when the things that you do come back at you- than you can see clearly that it,s all coming back on them.

Can,t just throw a blanket over it all and call that impeachment.
Because it,s far more complicated than that.

But the complications are slow ely unraveling and one day soon it just clearly all add up to one complete picture.
When the picture is complete and in full view-we will all know rather than think that we know.

Rome wasn,t built in a day was it?
And the empire fell did it not?
