Bar-code error on some ballots not serious - NEWS UPDATE Oct, 26, 2007

ELECTIONS

Bar-code error on some ballots not serious

JARED PABEN
THE BELLINGHAM HERALD

7:01 A.M.

Bar codes were misprinted on more than 9,200 ballots, but the Whatcom County Auditor's Office says the problem isn’t serious and won't result in delays in election results.

The offices and issues on the ballots were correct, so voters should return ballots as they normally would.

The error left out a bar on the bar code that tells computers which school district the affected voters live in. Staff will fix the problem as ballots are returned.
