Can someone please explain how the voting process works at the state convention?
I understand the Democrats are not going to use the results of the Primary election at all. but rely completely on the results determined via the caucus and conventions. I understand that the caucus' elect delegates to represent certain candidates. Then what. Will these delegates get to change their candidate after first vote?

1. I'll be posting caucus information on the following thread
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=184x13062

First, you go to the precinct caucuses and pick your delegates for the candidates. These move up to the Legislative District or County caucuses (LDs for populated areas; counties for more rural areas), where candidates must get at least 15% to get delegates. These delegates then go to congressional district caucuses which elect the delegates to the state and then national conventions. At each step there is winnowing, and at each step delegates can change their minds for strategic reasons. I like that because we get more than one bite of the apple that way.

2. Thank you so much. When the delegates go to the national convention, how many candidates can be
resented? In different words, what is required for a candidate to have delegates from Washington State to the national convention

3. The elected delegates at the LD/county and CD levels are proportional--
--to the number of delegates caucusing for the candidates at the next lowest level, but a 15% thresholf mudt be met. If, for instance, there are 400 delegates at an LD caucus, a candidate must have a minimum of 60 to send delegates to the Congressional District Caucus.

4. Think of the precinct caucuses as being like building a good snowpack in November and December
Without that, skiers are shit out of luck in March.
