The NW Winter Soldier event at Town Hall with a march following. Iraq Veterans Against War is looking for Northwest peace and justice groups to endorse (see below). Chanan needs to know by Monday night ... the flyer is being printed on Tuesday! Please contact Chanan directly (He is the President of IVAW, Seattle) Chanan's email is chananivaw {at} yahoo.com. Marion From Chanan: Hello Fellow Allies and Friends, Seattle IVAW would like to invite You or members of your organization to participate in our Winter Soldier NW Coalition Meeting. Iraq Veterans Against the War fights for three objectives: immediate, unconditional troop withdrawal, full veteran benefits, and reparations for the Iraqis whose lives and culture have been devastated by the illegal occupation of their country.
We want you to join us in this fight. There are many ways you can help end this Occupation.
IVAW Northwest will make its voice heard with Winter Soldier Northwest on May 31st, 2008, at Town Hall, and following this event we will fill the streets in a march . Vets from the NW will speak out about their experiences in the Occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. The original Winter Soldier took place in 1971, featuring first had accounts from Vietnam Veterans Against the War. The event bolstered resistance within the ranks, and that dissension brought the war machine to a grinding halt.
This past March from the 13 -16 2008 , IVAW assembled outside of our nation's capitol for our own Winter Soldier.
WE NEED OUR COMMUNITIES TO HEAR THESE VOICES .
If you have not done so already, please visit IVAW.org to view the testimony.
The event was powerfully evocative, and our national membership has increased 25% in the month following. IVAW Northwest wants to continue this momentum and to directly involve our community into our national effort to end the Occupation.
You can help us in this fight by simply attending and then marching with us in solidarity against the Occupation.
You can help us by networking and alerting your community and press of this fight.
You can help us with your knowledge and resources.
