Giving McSame a warm Eastside welcome on 5/12--
http://pol.moveon.org/event/events/event.html?event_id=46494

Thank you again for your participation in Iraq War and Recession report event. To keep the momentum going, we are organizing another event on 12th May to emphasize that a McCain presidency would be essentially another term for Bush. MoveOn has chosen us as a test council to host this event on May 12th, the day before McCain will be in town to raise money.

Given the shortage of time, please sign-up ASAP. More details and sign-up link below.

http://pol.moveon.org/event/events/event.html?event_id=46494

We are also in need of volunteers who can help contact press/media and provide exposure to this event. Please call Sanjay (425 213 0786) or Gail if you think you can help in getting media exposure.

McCain’s been getting a free pass in the media. On Monday May 12, Eastside MoveOn members have a chance to help put an end to this. McCain's coming to do a fundraiser in downtown Bellevue at the Hyatt the next day ($30,000 to have dinner). We'll be giving the media a chance to be even-handed. We'r...(more)e going to give a "Pepsi challenge" to passersby to see if they can tell the difference between Bush's and McCain's policy positions and quotes. Our goal is to generate local media coverage the day before McCain arrives to town.

1. The WA state Dems have some welcome plans that could use some cash
John McCain will be in Washington next Tuesday, and we want to give him a special welcome.

Five years ago, George Bush stood in front of a banner saying "Mission Accomplished" in Iraq. And John McCain has stood with Bush in this disastrous war every step of the way. Now - five years, 4,000 lost lives, and at least $500 billion later - John McCain says keeping our troops in Iraq for 100 years would be fine with him.

McCain is bringing his campaign to give Americans a 3rd Bush term to our state next week, and when he steps out of his limo on May 13th, we're planning to make sure "it's written in the skies" that his views are out of step with those of Washington voters. The plan is to hire an airplane that will carry a special message to Republican John McCain, and everybody else who is paying attention. Can you help us by donating just $25?

http://www.wa-democrats.org/contribute

McCain and the Republicans have been tight-lipped about his plans in the Puget Sound area, but we believe he'll be landing at Boeing Field around lunchtime, doing a mid-afternoon event in Seattle, and headlining a 5 pm fundraiser in Bellevue where people are being charged as much as $33,100 per person.

What are you doing this Tuesday afternoon? Are you interested in joining your fellow Democrats to demonstrate and personally let John McCain know you disapprove of his campaign to give Americans a 3rd Bush term in the White House? If so, please RSVP at 100years@wa-democrats.org, and we will send you times and locations once McCain and the Republicans finally disclose his schedule.

I know that this Democratic nomination process is taking longer than any of us imagined - or would have hoped. Thank you for your continued support. I know that we can all join together in the belief that a Democratic president - whoever he or she may be - is much better than John "100 Years in Iraq" McCain.

2. Another MoveOn email
With the Obama-Clinton primary drawing lots of attention, John McCain has largely gotten a free ride in the media. He's coming to Bellevue next Tuesday, hoping to get lots of fluff media coverage. Well, we're not going to let that happen.

MoveOn members in your area will be putting on a fun event the day before McCain's arrival called The Bush-McCain Challenge to make sure local voters and the media know that a McCain presidency would equal Bush's third term. We'll have a carnival-style table where people can answer questions and win prizes if they can tell the difference between Bush and McCain on the issues. Media will be invited.

Can you help out at The Bush-McCain Challenge table on Monday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.? It will be fun, and the more the merrier. Event details and RSVP link are here:

WHAT: The Bush-McCain Challenge
WHERE: Corner of NE 8th & Bellevue Way NE, Bellevue, WA, 98004
WHEN: Monday, May 12, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
RSVP: http://political.moveon.org/event/mccainpushback/46494?id=12597-5613343-996vt7&t=2

We'll supply the questions and decorations. We need your help to ask the questions at the table, or to hand out flyers to people walking by—promoting the challenge. Local media will be invited and national media who fly around with McCain will receive photos and local news clips of the event to incorporate into their reporting. We'll also put the best clips from these events around the nation on YouTube.

We saw the impact of regular people fighting back locally during President Bush's Social Security privatization tour.1 In town after town, we and coalition partners matched or beat Bush's media coverage by planning events the day before his local visit that showed why he was wrong.

The Bush-McCain Challenge will be a lot of fun. Together, we'll make sure voters realize that electing McCain would, in effect, be voting for Bush's third term.

We hope you can join us for this event. Thanks for all you do.

4. Letter from Dwight Pelz
Last week, I told you about John McCain's visit to Bellevue, where he was headlining a high-priced ($33,100!) GOP fundraiser. I asked you to help the Washington State Democrats send John McCain a message. Because of your support, we were able to launch the "McCain Plane" to welcome John McCain with that message - that Washingtonians are not "fine" with another 100 years in Iraq and we're not interested in McCain's campaign to give Americans a 3rd Bush term. Thank you for your support!

McCain started off the day by landing in Boeing Field in a 737 - ironic since McCain's actions have hurt Boeing workers and families. Back in March, we learned how McCain helped EADS, the French company that won a $35 billion Air Force tanker contract over Boeing. It is estimated that this will ship at least 9,000 jobs overseas directly from the state of Washington.

When McCain arrived at Boeing Field, he was greeted by protestors from the Machinists Union and their supporters who sent McCain a strong message - opposing his outsourcing of American jobs and encouraging him to protect the jobs of Washington families. McCain was also met later by dozens of protesters from progressive organizations at his high-priced Bellevue fundraiser, where the "McCain Plane" made its presence.

The Washington State Democrats also released a new video highlighting Republican Dino Rossi's support of John "job slayer" McCain. Like many Republicans, Rossi continues to place his partisan loyalties to McCain and the Republican Party over the interests of Washington's working families and our state's economy. John Ladenburg, who is mounting a strong challenge for Attorney General, also took McCain's WA campaign chairman Rob McKenna to task for supporting the anti-Boeing and anti-choice Republican.

Overall, the day was an enormous success! Thank you again for your help in launching the "McCain Plane" and to those of you who participated in the protests. Because of your help, we were able to communicate our message to Washingtonians, and will continue to do so every day between now and November.
