So, where do YOU bank?
I've been with Wells Fargo, but I'm not happy with them at all.

Recently opened an account at BECU, and once my automatic deposits start at BECU from my brand new job which I start Monday, I'll be closing out my WF account.

What about you?

1. We were going to go with BECU but they turned down one of my family members
and sent us on a run around to figure out why they turned him down. So we adjusted a couple of accounts at Wells Fargo until we can figure out what BECU's problem is. Funny thing, I hate the corporate ways of Wells Fargo but the local staff and the phone staff people have always been the nicest people.

2. hey, what's with the sleepless Seattlers?
Need I ask.

BofA is my bank, I am almost embarassed to say. Only because the same branch used to be a Seafirst when I moved here and it is so convenient only a few blocks away. handy for those times I need to get my a deposit in but not feeling that swell. or well-rested, after a long night on DU!

The staff there is really nice, too, though there are never enough, and seems to be a high turnover for some reason. The upside is it's right by a good bakery. I could make some lame joke about dough, but that I'm even considering it means I should hit the hay finally.

5. Wells Fargo - used to be First Interstate
I concur with whomever said that their branch people are great. I have always had that experience, too.

6. US Bank and credit unions
When we moved here in 1982, we got an account at what was then known as Old National, with ownership in Spokane. It had the closest branch, and DH's mom banked there. They were subsequently bought out by US Bank, headquartered in Portland. At least it's in the Pacific NW.

I opened savings accounts when we had enough to save at Woodstone, Group Health, and Boeing Employee's credit unions. BECU has the best rates.

I have a 401k with Vanguard, and they seem to have not gotten into some of the nonsense that other investment organizations have gotten into.

8. We've been with BECU for many years, with never a problem.
The people at all of their branches/'service centers' have always been very friendly, super-helpful, and very knowledgeable.

(I closed my old Wells Fargo (started at 1st Interstate) when it wound up costing me too much money to keep my money there.)

9. I have an account at Wells Fargo, in addition to the new on at BECU.
I'm going to close out my WF accounts and just stay with BECU.

I agree with you that it costs too much to keep money at WF. In addition, they gave my landlord grief over my rent check (I had plenty of money in the account, but they hassled him about his ID, and then called ME to get my okay for him to cash it. After that, he said he would not accept any more checks from me on a WF account. I have had to get money orders, as they aren't a hassle to cash for him. Now he'll be getting BECU checks, which he's totally fine with.

10. One of the services that we really make use of is their Bill Payment service.
We have some that are a fixed amount, so we have them on a completely auto-payment, and others that vary from month to month. For those I go in one weekend a month and set up all of the bills for the following several weeks. If they can do an electronic transfer, they do; if not, they cut an actual check and send that. We've found this to be a VERY handy way to manage all of the various bills and accounts.

11. We banked at Watermark Credit Union (formerly Seattle Telco Credit Union).
We switched to Whatcom Educational Credit Union when we moved back to Bellingham.

12. Was with WaMu for several years... went to BECU last year.
Had no idea WaMu was going down... just got tired of all their fees designed to hit you at the time when you need the bullshit the least. Was at Bank of America before that, though not by choice..... started out with one bank that got bought by SeattleFirst, and then they got bought by Bank Of Assholes. So my sympathies to those who got caught in the hostile takeover. Been there, done that. Not a big fan of Chase either - at least not their credit card division.

13. I hated SeaFirst.
I was overdrawn once, and as soon as I got my paycheck, I went straight to the bank to deposit it, because I needed to take care of the overdraft.

The teller sent me over to one of the managers, and that woman proceeded to embarrass the hell out of me in front of the other customers.

She berated me for being overdrawn, in a not-so-subtle voice.

I was so appalled.

I ended up depositing my check, and as soon as everything cleared and I was in the positive again, I closed my account there.

....and opened one at WaMu.

At that time, WaMu was a great bank.

Now, I'm at BECU, and so far, so good.
