http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/total_forecast/getprod.php?wfo=sew&pil=AFD&sid=SEW&version=0
SYNOPSIS...A VIGOROUS FRONTAL SYSTEM WILL SWEEP THROUGH WESTERN WASHINGTON TONIGHT. A STRONG LOW PRESSURE TROUGH
An elongated area of relatively low atmospheric pressure, usually not associated with a closed
circulation, and thus used to distinguish from a closed low.
WILL BRING WINDY WEATHER BY DAYBREAK. THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO BE NEAR THE STRAIT OF JUAN DE FUCA AND NORTH OF EVERETT. THE SNOW LEVEL WILL FALL TO 4000 FEET IN THE MOUNTAINS ON TUESDAY BEHIND THE FRONT
A boundary or transition zone between two air masses of different density, and thus (usually) of different temperature. A moving front is named according to the advancing air mass, e.g., cold front if colder air is advancing.

UNSETTLED WEATHER WILL PERSIST THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK. HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD FOR NEXT WEEKEND.

LOW SEEMS TO BE TRACKING TO THE NORTH WA COAST FOR NOW HOWEVER...WHICH IS DISCONCERTING. FRONTAL SYSTEM HAD SLYSLY GALES AS IT MOVED ACROSS THE OCEAN BUOYS AND WILL BE WATCHING BUOY5 AND 36 TO SEE WHAT SORT OF WINDS ARE IN THE BENT BACK OCCLUSION...THE STRONGEST PART OF THE SYSTEM IS LIKELY TO BE THE TROFTROF ARRIVING NWNW WA LATE TONIGHT. WIND ADVISORIES ARE UP FOR THE STRAIT AND NORTH OF EVERETT. THE 4KMWRF HAD AN AREA OF 50KT SWSW WIND OVER THE EAST ENTRANCE TO THE STRAIT OF JUAN DE FUCA AT 11Z...IMPRESSIVE FOR AN OCTOBER SYSTEM. OVER THE LAND AREAS I HAVE LOCAL GUSTS TO 45 MPH FOR THOSE ZONES WITH THE WIND ADVISORYWIND ADVISORY
Sustained winds 30 mph and greater or frequent wind gusts 35 mph or greater. These thresholds are
slightly higher for desert and mountain areas.
