* Because of the state’s impending budget deficit, Governor Chris Gregoire directed the Health Care Authority to reduce expenditures by $15 million.
* Some of these cuts directly affect Basic Health (BH).
What does this mean to the program?
* Beginning with coverage for February, Basic Health will reduce the number of available slots.
* A “member” includes all individuals (new applicants, their spouses, and dependents) on the member account.
* This process applies statewide.
* This is NOT a wait list.
What does this mean to current members?
* Be very punctual about paying your premiums on time. Also, make sure you respond to any requests for information by the due dates on the request.
* Members have the right to leave the program, but it may take longer to return to Basic Health in the future.
What does this mean to current applicants?
* If you are currently involved in the enrollment process, turn in all information as soon as possible and respond to any requests for information by the due dates on the request.
* Basic Health will continue to process all applications on a first-come, first-served basis (our current process).
* Basic Health will notify you if it needs more information or when space is available.
* Basic Health will offer coverage as space is available.
