The Candidate Evaluation Program is a volunteer-led review of candidates running for local office in King County. 60-90 Candidate Investigators will help the Municipal League review and rate up to 125 candidates in 2009.

Volunteers receive training on current public policy issues, get a front-row seat to the political process and have an opportunity to network with a wide range of other public-spirited citizens.

This year's program begins with evening training sessions on June 9 and 16. Volunteers form committees that meet 8-10 times from mid-June to mid-July in Seattle, the Eastside or South King County.

1. King County candidate forum 6/2 in Seattle

Candidate Forum – Seattle Mayor, King County Executive, Port Commission
On Tuesday, June 2, the local Democratic Party organizations of North, Central and South Seattle (the 11th, 36th, 37th, 43rd and 46th districts) are co-hosting a Candidate Forum in advance of their June endorsement meetings and the August 18 primary.

We will hear from candidates for King County Executive, Seattle Mayor and Position Four on the Seattle Port Commission. The event will follow the format of a moderated panel discussion addressing issues important to Seattle Democrats, followed by audience questions. The event, located in Belltown's Labor Temple, is free and open to the public.

Time: Doors open at 6:30 pm. Event begins at 7:00 pm.
