Sen Murray supports public option while Sen Cantwell won't commit.
I just spoke to both their offices.

Please call both to push a strong public option with no trigger.

callcongress.org for toll free phone numbers.

1. Please call Sen Cantwell and get her to commit for either single payer or
a strong public option with no trigger.

9. GET THE WORD OUT
GET THE WORD OUT - craft a message directed at Washington State Residents - tell them to contact her office, and tell Maria Cantwell you want her to support a public option - NOW.

Place this message in the comments sections of sites frequented by progressives - and expect your comment to be viewed by thousands of people.

This is critical - I have been posting her contact phone number (Toll Free) so that anyone in Washington State can call her - and encouraging people to call her NOW.

This is Maria Cantwell's toll-free number - it is a direct line to her Seattle Office. 1-888-648-7328

I am serious about getting this message out - and I am very concerned that her position is so VAGUE on a PUBLIC OPTION.

Looking forward to returning to this thread and finding out what other's are saying and doing.

2. Cantwell is an important player in this fight
She's on the senate finance committee that's writing the legislation. If you want it to happen, she's the one to call or write to.

3. Last night at the Tacoma forum, we heard from the represenatives
from Senator Murray, Congressman Adam Smith and Congressman Dicks, but no one from the Cantwell camp was there. Whats up with that? Hell even Smith who doesn't like single payer because of costs had the decency to give us his thoughts. Dicks is a sponsor of HR 676. If Maria Cantwell can't be bothered, then fine you don't need my vote.

6. Just found this...
http://www.nwprogressive.org/weblog/2009/06/senator-cantwell-tells-constituents-at.html

Senator Cantwell tells constituents at forum: "I support a public plan"

I'm in the back of the room listening to Senator Maria Cantwell's expert panel discussion on healthcare reform at UW Medicine.

Joining Senator Cantwell for today's event are representatives from Regence Blue Shield, Premera Blue Cross, AARP Washington, Group Health Cooperative, Washington State Labor Council, Physicians for a National Health Program, and Community Health Network of Washington. Also present are Senator Karen Keiser and Governor Chris Gregoire, representing state government.

We've just finished a lengthy hour of introductory remarks from all the panelists, and are just getting into questions. The first question was whether Senator Cantwell would support a public option for healthcare. The answer?

"Yes, I support a public plan."

7. Her aide said as much at the rally 7/9
However, her written letters still are noncommittal. It's like she thinks the "co-ops" would be an actual public plan.

8. Not the letter I got from her office - dated July 2nd
it stated very clearly that she supported a public plan.
