Do we need to stand out in front of Cantwell's office?
I have e-mailed, phone and faxed. Several times. Yet Maria Cantwell is not supporting the public option for healthcare reform?

I am ready to stand out in front of her office with a big, fat sign!

Anybody with me? Anybody already planning to do it and I can just join you?

I have had about enough of her.

1. The only time
I have gotten anything back from her when I emailed was on an "ELECTION" year, then she seems to be more than willing to respond, just like many of the others in congress! The problem is we can never get anyone to run against her in the primaries. Last election on guy was running then he backed out and took a job on "her" staff! I think that is the big problem in politics. If you don't have a lot of money, or have the backing of the leaders in your party, you just can't get elected. We get the same old bunch back who have been taking money from the special interest groups for years and years. The people can't get someone elected to work for them, if we can never get anyone to run against them! We need some serious changes made in our election process and we need to get the big money out of the elections, I just don't know how we can ever do it when the people that need to go are the ones making the rules!

2. A bunch of people from MoveOn did exactly that at 12:15PM today
The aide that spoke with the 5 or so who went to her office said that she was for a public option, but that actual letter was pretty non-committal.

3. Maria is not very responsive.
Over the years, I have emailed both her and Murray, and while Murray's office responds to all of my emails, I've gotten one response from Cantwell's office. It's very frustrating!

5. I've never failed to get an answer from her office and promptly
It hasn't always been what I want but I always get an answer. I've even had emails months later because I contacted her about an issue.

4. The letter I got from her office says that Cantwell supports
the public option. That is the same thing that I was told when I called on the 7th.

6. I've been online getting the word out - CALL MARIA CANTWELL
GET THE WORD OUT - craft a message directed at Washington State Residents - tell them to contact her office, and tell Maria Cantwell you want her to support a public option - NOW.

Place this message in the comments sections of sites frequented by progressives - and expect your comment to be viewed by thousands of people.

This is critical - I have been posting her contact phone number (Toll Free) so that anyone in Washington State can call her - and encouraging people to call her NOW.

This is Maria Cantwell's toll-free number - it is a direct line to her Seattle Office. 1-888-648-7328

I am serious about getting this message out - and I am very concerned that her position is so VAGUE on a PUBLIC OPTION.

Looking forward to returning to this thread and finding out what other's are saying and doing.

7. Remind her of what happened to her in 1994
The Democrats had a similar opportunity for reform and decided to keep on doing business as usual. As a result, House Speaker Tom Foley went down, and Ms.Cantwell became a one-term rep. That's the message Howard Dean is trying to get across to these people.
