King County Library has been named Library of the Year

SEATTLE —
The King County Library System has won a prestigious national award. The system has been named 2011 library of the year by two industry publications.

It is being honored for its broad range of services from digital lending to outreach to the community to get people reading.

The King County Library System is one of the largest and busiest in the nation, with 46 branches within more than 2,000 square miles. The library's website is similarly busy, with more than 30 million visits in the past year.

The award will be presented at the American Library Association Annual Conference in New Orleans on June 26. In addition to a $10,000 cash award, the library system will be featured as the cover story for the June 15 issue of Library
