1. King County Transit Advisory Commission needs members
http://www.kingcounty.gov/transportation/kcdot/MetroTransit/AdvisoryGroups/TransitAdvisoryCommission.aspx

The King County Transit Advisory Commission improves transit services, planning, and programs by advising Metro’s staff members and general manager, the King County Executive and Council, local jurisdictions, and subarea transportation boards concerning transit policy issues.

The commission’s role is to:

•Advise Metro on the inception and development of long-range planning efforts.
•Advise Metro and King County on issues essential to transit service in King County, including matters of concern to the elderly and persons with disabilities.
•Serve as a resource for inter-jurisdictional transit promotion and coordination.
The commission was established in January 2011 by King County ordinance #17025 (245KB PDF). The ordinance merged two previous advisory groups, the Transit Advisory Committee and the Accessible Services Advisory Committee.

Members
The commission members include residents, businesses, and other stakeholders concerned about transit service in the county. Most are bus riders. All live in King County, and collectively they reflect the county’s diversity. At least half are people who have disabilities, are elderly, or work with these populations.

Members are appointed by the King County Executive and approved by the King County Council for two-year appointments.

3. West Seattle Democratic Women need volunteers for making toiletry gift bags
Join the WSDW Board, other WSDW members, and their friends for our

ANNUAL WSDW "CHRISTMAS"
WOMEN'S GIFT BAG WORK PARTY

Have fun while compiling toiletry gift bags for the women clients of the White Center Food Bank.

Bring any small (travel or hotel size are perfect), unused items you may have to donate to the cause. Bags will be provided and this project will take as much of the board meeting as needed.

This is either the fifth or sixth year the WSDW Board has created the gift bags for the WCFB. It is amazing each year to see how happy the women are who receive this small gift. Brings a smile to their face and to ours, as well.

We'll be meeting on Thursday, December 8th
from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. at the:

West Seattle Library
2306 42nd Ave. S.W.
(Admiral District-Just a block northeast of the intersection of Admiral Way & California Avenue)

Hope to see you there!!

The WSDW Board
