June 16, 2004 -- Seattle is the best major city for kids and Cleveland is the worst, according to a new ranking.

Among the 20 major cities on the list, only Seattle and Boston get an "A." Cleveland is joined by Detroit and Phoenix in getting a "C."

1. I miss Seattle!

Just one more reason that has me missing the Jet City. Lived out there through early 99 (was there for 3 1/2 years in grad school) and unfortunately for me, havent been back since. Now that I have kids, I realize just how nice the town was with all of the many great things available, including the fact the city is so pedestrian and bike friendly (as compared to Hotlanta). Also, I miss Green Lake park. :)

2. I hate these number 1 rankings

What does it do? Not much except make people want to move here. OTOH, some usually return from whence they came once they get a taste of months without sunshine.

3. As someone who grew up here

I think Seattle is a good place to raise a kid. There was this one time, though, when I was about 18 mos. and I was outside in my playpen and starting screaming my head off up at something in the sky. It was the SUN. Swear to the gods, my mom swears it's true.:D

4. After I moved to Seattle in 2000

after spending 26 years of my life in the Midwest, somewhere in the summer of 2002 I saw lights flashing in the sky and heard noises like bombs going off. I was totally scared and turned on the television. I called some people. The cause? Lightning and thunder.

I had forgotten.
