Interesting disclosure regarding Chris Van Dyk
and Citizens for More Important Things, the alleged grass roots group opposing public funding for a new venue for the Sonics. The green comes not from real grass, but from astro-turf. Their funding comes mostly from one source. And Van Dyk is more hired gun than citizen activist. The items below appeared on the Sonicscentral website.

"According to the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission, which tracks party donations The Citizens For More Impotant Things has to date collected $35,017.29. Of that money $32,500, or just about 93% was donated by a single donor, SEIU Local 775. This group also, according to a recent Seattle PI Article pays Van Dyk a salary of $4,000 per month. Oddly enough one of their other donors happens to be a 20 year Sonics Season ticket holder I know very well who has committed funds to Save Our Sonics and Storm. I’ll call him about it but maybe he was fooled by the groups name.

It is very hard to believe that a group bankrolled 93% by a single sponsor with their own agenda, and a man who draws a salary from that same group represent in any way a concensus of concerned citizens. Think what you want but those facts IMO make it hard to take Van Dyk or his initiative at face value."

"If you want to do the real math the way I actually understand it they have drawn $32,500 in donations AND an additional direct payment of $4,000 per month or $32,000 direct to CVD. If that is correct then the numbers change and you have total of $67,019 in donations with $64,500 donated by the single group. That brings the number up to 96.2% of donations…"
