I Know You're Out There!!! Who Will Protest Oct 5th????
Join World Can't Wait Oct 5th to protest the Bush Crime Familys many assaults on civil liberties, injustice, corruption, the Iraq War. etc etc. What is it going to take for Americans to be totally outraged by what the neo-cons and the Bush Cirme Family are doing? What is it going to take for people to realize that our national media is complicit, and even cooperating in eroding our civil liberties??? What is it going to take when anybody with a brain can see what is going on. The national news media reads headline on the hour, after all. But does your local news tell you what is really going on? No, they don't. Why would they?
The media has learned from Vietnam, that if they told the country what was really going on in Iraq, we would hit the streets.

For more information, go to http://worldcantwait.net/

Better yet, here is an update on the upcoming protest courtesy of Jean Buskin,@ UFPJ:
*THURS OCT 5, 10 am, gather at Red Square on the University of Washington Campus, Seattle; part of Nationwide Protests with theme The World Can't Wait! DRIVE OUT THE BUSH REGIME! No work / No school. ENDLESS WARS, TORTURE, KATRINA, THEOCRACY! Bring This To A Halt! 10 am, College and High School students from all schools in and around Seattle gather at Red Square on the University of Washington Campus followed by march to Capitol Hill. Noon, Gather at Cal Anderson Park, (11th Ave and E Denny in Capitol Hill) followed by 1 pm Rally with speakers. 3 pm, March into downtown Seattle to the Federal Building (2nd & Marion) Participate in visual representations of the many crimes of the Bush regime - war, torture, katrina, theocracy, and the greater horrors to come if we don't act to bring this to a halt. 4 pm all night until 7pm the next day, Sit-In At The Federal Building. As the night unfolds, people will talk, debate, create music and art, and work together on visions and plans for driving out the Bush Regime and reversing the whole direction it has been taking the country and the world. Find a protest in your area http://www.worldcantwait.org, National Office press@worldcantwait.org or 1-866-973-4463. Seattle info seattle@worldcantwait.org or 206-322-3813

I don't know about the rest of you, but our government has reached a new point of lunacy with the passage of the torure bill. Now anyone can be picked up without benefit of habeous corpus, all thanks to our leaders in Congress. (Although I am sure Jim McDermott voted against it, and pray to God our two Senators did)

This is something everyone in the area can do! And it doesn't cost you anything but your time!

1. i won't
#1, i have to be at work like every other american wage slave.
#2, didn't you hear the president? he doesn't give a fuck if its just laura & barney supporting him, he won't withdraw.
#3, protest chants are embarassing & easily ridiculed. "the people united can never be divided"? umm, they're DIVIDED. and you can't put them back together.

there's no conceivable way for this protest to have any effect whatsoever.

november 8th is the only protest that matters.

2. Protest
My husband and I are getting up there in years and can't do much marching any more, but we will
put signs up in our yard and we will be with you in spirit.

Protest is one way to fight for our country. Another, very important way is to demand that your vote count (only once is good) in November, not just in Washington but everywhere.
We shall overcome, but the fallout of this terrible debacle in government will take years and years to fix.

Begin by demanding that your representatives and senators be honest. Watch them. We cannot tolerate ANY dishonesty in them. Don't address them as 'Honorable' unless they are.

The Republican PCL (pedophiles, crooks and liars) cannot be allowed to bring our government down. If there happens to be a Democrat in that unsavory crowd, expose them and vote them out.

LEARN the facts, TELL the facts, and VOTE.

3. What is it Going to Take to Outrage this Nation?????
Oh, sorry Max Solomon that this protest isn't convenient for you.

Don't tell me that, I work 60 hours a week, and I am planning on being there. Our forefathers risked their lives, and their familys lives, for the Revolution. Sorry if a little protest will "have no effect whatsoever". Give me a break.

What is it going to take to outrage this country??? Now anyone can be picked up without benefit of habeous corpus and locked away indefinitely.
I know someone, who because he's simply Iranian, was picked up and held for weeks, completely without explanation. Our nation has turned back the clock 800 years by the passage of the torture bill.
The Bush Crime Family pisses on the constitution, he flouts the Geneva Convention by torture, he allows 9-11 to happen, the list of crimes just goes on and on and on. And now we know, via Bob Woodwards book , that Rice knew for weeks about Al Queda???? So this story generates only a few headlines while Bill Clinton getting a hummer was front page for months????? Why aren't more Americans out in the streets???

Everybody who can, should at least learn what is going on. Everyone should at least know some simple facts. Everyone who can vote, should at least write to their leaders. Everyone needs to get involved, in some small way, do what ever you can. The Bush Crime Family must go!
And they must be held to account for the atrocities they have commited against humanity, and for the crimes they have commited against our Republic.

Peace be with you be all.

4. #1, if you work 60 hours a week you need to check yourself
its going to take a draft to outrage this country. outrage fatigue is where i'm at, as well as most folks i know. facts are meaningless. there is no consequence for lying.

the marches are entitled "drive out the bush regime". that's not feasable. impeachment wont' happen unless the dems, quislings that they are, take BOTH houses. even if they do, they'll have to work up the sac to impeach. do you think that will happen? if so, you're delusional. the bush crime family will not be stopped by these marches. it will only be stopped by the voters in 2008.

i stand by my assertion: no effect whatesoever. an atomized citizenry is so busy running around keeping their heads above water they won't even know it happened. it will be a blip on the local news. who watches that? i'm still at work when it ends.

and my forefathers came over on boats in the 1840s.

When our tactics aren't working, we need to change them.

8. Well Heil Hitler to you Maxsolomon!!!!
You missed the whole point of my post. Which was, to DO SOMETHING. I took a personal holiday and donated money to the cause to show my support. I handed out flyers to get people interested in taking part and supporting the protest, to at least come to the rally at Cal Anderson Park, if they could not come to the protest. I encouraged people to excercise their civil liberities against their government, which has waged an illegal war against a country which posed no conceivable threat to our nation.
This is why I joined Democratic Underground. When it became clear to me that our government was lying, I started taking notes and paying attention.

What did you do?

I am writing to my representatives and senators. I will support any political group or cause that will work for the impeachment and removal from office of the current administration.
The mere fact that our nation invaded another country under false pretenses should enrage every American. Recent revelations from Bob Woodward and the CIA point out that our government knew before 9-11 that airplanes could be used to attack the World Trade Center are even more diabolically evil. It is no longer just a conspiracy from some left wing waco group of socialists or communists or hippie free lovers, now it is established as fact from the Main Stream Media, and further verified by Condoleeza Rice's own spokespeople.
This should get everyone to call their senators and congresspeople and demand a resignation of the entire Bush regime. It is no longer about politics. Now it is about morality, now it is about ethics, and a complete abuse of power, far worse than anything Nixon could even have dreamed.
Can anyone imagine what Eisenhower would have done, if people in his cabinet knew about such a threat? Or Roosevelt, Nixon, Kennedy, Bush Sr, Reagan? Can you imagine what anyone but Bush would have done if news came to light that their administrations had violated the Geneva Convention?
Why is Rumsfeld still there? Why has our government turned back the clock 800 years on jurisprudence by throwing Habeous Corpus out the window? Why do columnists across the country call for Rumsfelds resignation? Why is it that anyone in the military knew we were going to Iraq before Bush was even elected? (If you know anyone in the military above the rank of a sargent, you too would know they were talking about this.)
In a related thread, I said that Reagan would have sent planes and special forces after anyone who posed a threat to the US. Does anyone honestly beleive any president in the last forty years would have sat on their hands and done virtually nothing with the case for 9-11 so plainly laid bare?

I support DU. I support the White Rose Society. I support World Can't Wait, and the Nation, and Mother Jones, to name a few. I donate my time, and I will continue to do so. If I have the strength and the time, I will work toward Justice and democracy and the values of civilized nations worldwide. I am the working poor. And I vote.

9. Hitler had marches, too.
I don't think implying someone who disagrees with protest marching is a Nazi is fair.

10. I would just like to say,
Edited on Sun Oct-08-06 04:59 PM by Wash. state Desk Jet
That anybody who opposes the Bush adminstration also opposes all the deception there of.

If you see deception as lies ,deceiving people is just a fancy way of calling out a lier. So did Bush deceive himself ,or did he just get caught up in all the lies he ever told? As there may be so many of them ,who could think to count?

Oppose this war,protest it,

Remember The Alamo , a war cry in Texas that rings to the Texacan,s like give me liberty or give me death rings threw the american sprite.

Well it,s this way with us, (Remember The oil embargo of 1973/74) when America was still in the process of evacuating vietanm. (?)

The tap root to the issues at hand are right there.
And every day that has passed since then.

And Nixon and Ford and Carter and Reagan and Bush and Clinton and Bush. And fiber all.

And when I go to the polls to vote ,you may know that my protest will go recorded.

Just say NO Republicans .
And we have had enough ,which is too much.

For more than thirty years since Nixon who threw us the old V for victory and we knew just what it ment.
And when Bush flys off ,will he imitate that too(?)

11. first rule of political debate
the first one to mention Hitler loses.

YOU missed the point of my post. on the slippery slope to fascism, america is beyond the point where activism will have any effect. no one is listening. they're just nodding their heads because they have to pretend to pay attention to the rabble. i have known that bush was lying the first time i heard him open his priviledged frat boy gentleman's C MBA coke-jaw mouth. i didn't need to wait till 9-11. i've been paying attention to every twist and turn of the last 6 years, as well as the total neutering of the democratic "opposition", such as it was/is.

i have 2 democratic senators. i have a democratic governor. i have a democratic house rep. i have a democratic state senator & house rep. i have a democratic mayor. they are all powerless. well, maybe not greg nickels.

simply put, if you are to the left of center, no one is going to listen to you until Pelosi is speaker. and then it will be only those JUST left of center who are heard. and even then, mass rallies will have little effect on government policy, unless it is paris 1968.

12. Then Give Up. You are already defeated.

Don't read these forums.
Don't vote. Don't write to anyone. You're right. Your voice does not matter.
Why did you even respond? What good are you?

We need more people to be involved, not less. Join the GOP, or something, you might as well.

13. Tanacity
Picking and choosing your battle ground is the first and most difficult choice.

And than it is the battles you choose to fight.
As there are so many of them.

To call up an army or a regiment ,- there must be leadership.
For there to be leadership- there must also be leaders.
The regiment and the armys are always there ,givin a unified cause.

It is about where,-and when.

Right now it is raining.
