Kasey Warner silent on future

U.S. Attorney Kasey Warner declined Wednesday to quash reports that he will resign from the post within days.

“I’ve heard rumors of this before,” said Warner, who was appointed by President Bush in 2001. “This is a political appointment and funny things happen in politics.”

Several sources who asked to remain unnamed said Warner had turned down a Justice Department job in Washington, D.C., earlier this year. They said Justice Department officials told him earlier this week to resign from his Charleston job.
