Hee hee, that's pretty funny! But also true.
Every now and then I've been mentioning the WV Democratic Party site to others, hoping that in this small way I can encourage more folks to visit there. But I can tell I'm not the only one who gets discouraged when all the old messages get blown away. And some of the ones wiped out really aren't that old, either.
A good blog, like this one, makes a very good reference library. It's not uncommon for me to use Democratic Underground archives when making a point via email, blog, or radio talk show. I don't understand why the WV Democratic Party State Party Blog
http://www.wvdemocrats.com/phpBB2/ administrator doesn't archive instead of deleting old messages. Humongus Hari Kari Tera bytes of server space is pretty cheap nowadays, so that shouldn't be a problem unless the state party is too cheap to support the site.
I voiced concern to the site administrator right after the first purge, but I can see nothing's changed in this respect. I don't want to be too critical, because I'm afraid the system administrator will ask me to volunteer my time to help keep the site going. That would suck.
Oh well, I'm pretty happy with this forum right here, except you have to post a boatload of messages before you can start a new one. Modern America
http://modernamerica.blogspot.com/ has some excellent contributors, especially Wayne Elkins. He's about the best there is. ;-)
